England boss Sam Allardyce confirms Sammy Lee will join him as assistant manager

England manager Sam Allardyce confirms that Sammy Lee will come into the fold as his assistant coach.

England manager Sam Allardyce has confirmed that Sammy Lee has joined the setup as his assistant coach.

The 57-year-old was widely expected to be named among the backroom staff after Allardyce was appointed on a two-year deal last week.

Lee, who has previously coached at Liverpool, worked alongside Allardyce at Bolton Wanderers.

In his first press conference as England boss, Allardyce told reporters: "Sammy is joining me. Not only did we have a great time at Bolton but I've relied on his international experience over the years as well. He's one of the many who will join me in the near future."

Allardyce is also believed to be keen to add Paul Clement to his staff.
