Roy Hodgson says that he would like to carry on as England manager beyond Euro 2016 but not if it means outstaying his welcome.

Roy Hodgson has reiterated that he would be "happy to stay" as England manager if the Football Association wants him to this summer.

Hodgson is preparing for his third major tournament in charge of the Three Lions having led them at Euro 2012 and the 2014 World Cup, making the quarter-finals in Poland and Ukraine before crashing out without a win at the group stage in Brazil.

The 68-year-old's future will be reviewed after Euro 2016 this summer and he says that he would like to carry on if it means not outstaying his welcome.

"If they want me, it is as simple as that," PA quotes Hodgson as saying. "I think I have tried to say all along - and nothing has really changed - that if the FA want me, if the mood in the country is that they would like me to stay, then I of course am more than happy to stay.

"But I don't want to be clawing onto a job when I get the feeling that people don't want me to have the job, so it is as simple as that.

"I suppose that does comes down to what the Euros brings and see how we feel after it."

England are in a group with Russia, Slovakia and Wales this summer in France.
