Steve McClaren: 'Derby County will maintain attacking style'

Derby County manager Steve McClaren insists that his side will maintain their high-tempo attacking style in the playoffs.

Steve McClaren has insisted that Derby County will not change their approach ahead of the Championship playoffs.

The Rams, who take on Brighton & Hove Albion tonight, finished the season in third place, topping the scoring charts with 84 goals.

Despite the tense nature of the two-legged semi-final, McClaren says that his side will maintain their high-tempo attacking style.

"I don't think this team can even think about approaching it differently," the former England manager is quoted as saying by the Derby Telegraph.

"This team cannot switch, it just plays how it plays. We have played 46 games and ended up third in the table. Nothing changes in the next two games. We just have to keep doing the same things.

"I want them to carry on doing what they have been doing and playing with a certain amount of freedom because that is what has got us to where we are."

The first leg gets underway tonight, with the return game taking place on Sunday.
