Crystal Palace are reportedly in talks to sign veteran goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri as they gear up for a relegation dogfight.

Crystal Palace are reportedly in talks to sign Brazilian goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri to help in their fight against relegation.

The 35-year-old is a free agent, having left Fluminense last month, and is well-known by Eagles boss Roy Hodgson following their time together at Liverpool.

According to The Sun, Palace are in talks with Cavalieri about a short-term deal that would see him join the club until the end of the season, with the possibility of an extended stay if he impresses and the club avoid relegation.

During his two years with the Reds, Cavalieri failed to make a single appearance in the Premier League and was instead deployed in the Champions League, Europa League and domestic cup competitions.

Hodgson has just one fit senior goalkeeper at present in the form of Wayne Hennessey after Julian Speroni was sidelined with a knee injury.

Palace are currently 15th in the Premier League table and part of an 11-team pack all looking to avoid relegation.
