How Chelsea could line up next season with Kai Havertz, Thiago Silva, Ben Chilwell

Sports Mole looks at how Chelsea could line up next season with Kai Havertz, Thiago Silva and Ben Chilwell.

Chelsea have certainly been busy during this summer's transfer window, with deals for five new players already secured ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.

Thiago Silva has become the latest player to join the Blues, with the 35-year-old arriving on a free transfer, having left Paris Saint-Germain following the Champions League final.

Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell and Hakim Ziyech have also arrived this summer, while Malang Sarr has joined on a free transfer but will spend the 2020-21 campaign out on loan.

A deal for Bayer Leverkusen's Kai Havertz is also expected to go through, while Lille's Mike Maignan has seemingly emerged as the club's number one target between the sticks.

Lampard appears to have completely lost faith in the world's most expensive goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga and therefore it would not be a surprise to see a new stopper arrive before the transfer deadline.

As mentioned, Maignan could arrive from Lille, but the Blues have already improved their defence ahead of next season with the signings of Chilwell and Thiago Silva from Leicester City and PSG respectively.

Chilwell will take on the left-back spot next term, while it seems likely that Thiago Silva will be joined by Antonio Rudiger in central defence, although the likes of Kurt Zouma and Andreas Christensen are both options.

Reece James will battle Cesar Azpilicueta for the right-back spot, while N'Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic could line up as the midfield two in a 4-2-3-1 formation, allowing those ahead of them to influence proceedings.

Christian Pulisic is the favourite to secure the spot on the left, while Ziyech could feature on the right, with the Morocco international enjoying an excellent 2019-20 campaign at Ajax, contributing eight goals and 21 assists in 35 appearances in all competitions.

Werner is expected to be Chelsea's first-choice striker despite the presence of Tammy Abraham, while Havertz would likely fill the number 10 position. The Bayer Leverkusen attacker has scored 38 times at club level over the last two campaigns and would certainly be a threat for Lampard's new-look side.
