Chelsea attacker Eden Hazard would be prepared to sign a new contract with the club if Zinedine Zidane was appointed head coach, according to a report.

Chelsea attacker Eden Hazard would reportedly be prepared to sign a new contract with the club if Zinedine Zidane was appointed as Maurizio Sarri's replacement.

Sarri's position as head coach of the Blues is currently the subject of intense speculation, with Sunday's 6-0 defeat at Manchester City leaving them down in sixth position in the Premier League table.

The odds on Sarri being sacked have been slashed following the disappointing result at the Etihad Stadium.

The former Napoli boss reportedly has two weeks to save his job, with the Blues facing Malmo twice, Manchester United and Manchester City in three separate competitions before the end of the month.

Hazard, meanwhile, is enjoying another productive season, scoring 15 times and registering 10 assists in 32 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea.

The Belgium international will see his current deal with the Blues expire at the end of next season, however, and there have been strong suggestions that the attacker will look to move on this summer.

The 28-year-old recently claimed that he 'knows what he is going to do' at the end of the season, having previously revealed a desire to turn out for Real Madrid.

However, according to The Sun, appointing Zidane as head coach could pave the away for Hazard to sign a new long-term contract with Chelsea as the Belgian has a desire to play under the former midfielder.

Zidane led Los Blancos to a third straight Champions League title before stepping down as head coach.
