Matteo Kovacic 'wants to stay at Chelsea'

Real Madrid midfielder Matteo Kovacic wants to join Chelsea on a permanent deal this summer, according to a report.

Matteo Kovacic is reportedly keen to join Chelsea on a permanent deal in this summer's transfer window.

Kovacic joined Chelsea on loan from Real Madrid ahead of the 2018-19 campaign, having struggled to earn regular minutes at the Bernabeu.

The Croatia international has made 34 appearances for the Blues this season and has played in all but three of the London team's Premier League games this term.

According to El Chiringuito, Kovacic has informed Madrid that he has no interest in returning to the Spanish capital this summer as he is keen to complete a permanent move to Chelsea.

The 24-year-old's future could depend on the managerial situation at Stamford Bridge, though, with head coach Maurizio Sarri coming under increasing pressure following a poor run of results.
