Chelsea are reportedly planning to make a second bid for Leicester City's Danny Drinkwater next week.

Chelsea are reportedly planning to make a second bid for Leicester City's Danny Drinkwater next week.

The Blues already lodged an unsuccessful bid of £15m for the 27-year-old earlier in the window but are hoping that an offer in the region of £25m will break the Foxes' resolve, according to The Telegraph.

However, the report suggests that it would likely take a sum of nearer £40m to reunite Drinkwater with former Leicester teammate N'Golo Kante, both of whom were considered key players in the club's unlikely league title victory of 2015-16.

The player himself, who missed his side's season-opening loss to Arsenal due to a thigh injury, is understood to be keen on the move.

Leicester manager Craig Shakespeare, however, warned potential suitors earlier this week that they are 'not a selling club'.

Antonio Conte is said to be looking to make up to four new signings to reinforce his Chelsea squad, who began their title defence with a shock 3-2 loss to Burnley this afternoon.
