Chelsea teenager Tammy Abraham has joined Bristol City on a season-long loan.

The 18-year-old, who was tracked by a number of Championship clubs, could make his debut as early as tomorrow as he has been included in the squad for City's season opener against Wigan Athletic.

Abraham, who is capped at England Under-19 level, has made two first-team appearances for Chelsea, both of which were during last season under interim manager Guus Hiddink.

Since joining the Blues' academy at eight years old, the striker has scored 74 goals in 98 games in all competitions.

Head coach Lee Johnson told City's official website: "Tammy is a top class player who I believe has a very bright future in the game. We're delighted that all of the club's hard work has paid off. He's one we've been chasing for a long time and we've remained patient to get this deal over the line in time for the new season.

"We're very grateful to Chelsea and [manager] Antonio Conte for allowing one of England's bright young talents to join us and we're now able to give him the chance to showcase himself in the Championship."

Chief operating officer Mark Ashton added: "This has been a team effort and a deal we've been working on since the end of last season.

"After a number of meetings with Chelsea technical director Michael Emenalo and his board members, we're delighted to have secured the 12-month loan of Tammy.

"I'd like to thank Chelsea for their support in this deal. Lee Johnson has played a major part, along with [head of scouting] Des Taylor and [head of football operations] Luke Werhun."

Abraham will wear the number nine shirt for the season.
