Chelsea are reportedly preparing a £70m offer for Real Madrid attacker Alvaro Morata after they missed out on the signing of Romelu Lukaku.

Chelsea have reportedly decided to make a £70m offer for Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata.

The Blues had identified Romelu Lukaku as their top transfer target this summer, but the Everton forward has instead decided to sign for Manchester United.

The deal also resulted in United ending their interest in the Spanish international, who had expected to make the move to Old Trafford ahead of their pre-season trip to the United States.

However, Chelsea naturally have the option of now making an approach for the 24-year-old and according to AS, they are prepared to bid in the region of £70m.

Morata's representatives have previously indicated that Morata had 'no alternatives' after missing out on a switch to United, but Chelsea appear keen to provide the forward with his move to the Premier League.

Last season, Morata was only used on a rotational basis at the Bernabeu, but he still managed to contribute 20 goals in all competitions.

He has a previous connection with Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte, with the Italian signing him for Juventus before he accepted a new role with the Italian national team.
