Chelsea are reportedly readying a bid of £20m for German left-back Jonas Hector.

The 26-year-old has been with Bundesliga outfit FC Koln for six seasons and put pen to paper on a new five-year deal over the weekend, but according to The Mirror, an undeterred Chelsea are hoping to lure him to Stamford Bridge before the transfer window closes.

Blues manager Antonio Conte is looking for backup to Cesar Azpilicueta at left-back after Baba Rahman joined Schalke 04 on loan for the season.

Hector has been linked with a move away from Germany all summer, with Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool thought to have been leading the chase for his signature.

During his four seasons with the senior Koln side, Hector has racked up 122 appearances in the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga, scoring four times.
