Jurgen Klopp challenges Liverpool players to "strike back" against Chelsea

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp targets revenge as he prepares his side for Saturday evening's showdown with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Jurgen Klopp has urged his Liverpool players to make a quick response to their EFL Cup exit at the hands of Chelsea when they take on the same opponents in the Premier League.

The Reds travel to Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening for the pick of this weekend's top-flight fixtures, three days on from a 2-1 loss to the Blues on Merseyside.

That loss ended Liverpool's perfect start to the season in all competitions, but Klopp acknowledges that his side have an immediate chance to put things right when they travel to the capital later today.

"We want to strike back, of course, but you lose once, it can happen," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. "Striking back is a duty in sport, a big part of what I love.

"In a season you always play twice. It's not easy to play a team in August and then say in May 'let's strike back' but in three days, it's possible. Let's try. It will not be an easy game, both teams know that.

"But the best preparation for the Saturday game is the Wednesday game, because you can never know more about an opponent than in a match against them. Of course there will be a few different players on the pitch, but we try to use our information from Wednesday to do it better."

Liverpool have won only two of their last 15 meetings with Chelsea in all competitions, with both of those victories coming at Stamford Bridge.
