Chelsea forward Eden Hazard describes Gonzalo Higuain as "a great striker" and backs his new teammate to score freely during his time at Stamford Bridge.

Eden Hazard has backed new teammate Gonzalo Higuain to "score a lot of goals" in English football during his time at Chelsea.

The Argentina international joined the Blues from Juventus last month on an initial loan deal with the option to buy in the summer.

Higuain fired blanks in his first two games for his new club but was on the scoresheet with a brace against Huddersfield Town on Saturday, as the Blues cruised to a 5-0 victory.

Hazard also helped himself to a couple of goals at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea finally clicked back into gear, and the Belgian believes that his latest strike partner can thrive in the Premier League.

"We try to work with each other, Higuain is a new player but he knows what the manager wants," he is quoted as saying by the London Evening Standard.

"He is a great striker and he can score a lot of goals. England is different than Italy and Spain but he has that ability. If [Olivier] Giroud or I play as a striker, we always try and help each other."

Higuain struggled on loan with AC Milan in the first half of the season, scoring eight times in 22 appearances.
