Andreas Christensen: "I am happy with the way I am performing"

Andreas Christensen says that he is "happy with the way" he is performing in the heart of Chelsea's defence, having played a full part in their last four league outings.

Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen has admitted that he is "enjoying" his football at Stamford Bridge after holding down a place in the starting lineup.

The 21-year-old, who returned to West London in the summer following two seasons away on loan, has played the full 90 minutes of the Blues' last four Premier League games.

Christensen now intends to help his side maintain their improved form, which has seen them win five of their last six in the top flight and keep four clean sheets.

Speaking specifically about the 1-0 win over Swansea City in midweek, the Denmark international told the club's official website: "We felt like we had quite a lot of opportunities in the first half so we just had to keep doing what we were doing and hope for that scrappy goal, which we got in the end, we had to be patient.

"We were definitely not at our best, we can do much better than that but at the end of the day we got the three points and we're happy with that.

"I'm happy with the way I'm performing and the team are performing,' he said. 'We're getting the points that are necessary and I'm enjoying playing my football.

"For me the loan was perfect timing. I got a lot of experience and played in the Champions League for two seasons. The Bundesliga is a high level and that was what I needed to help me come back."

Christensen and Chelsea return to action on Saturday lunchtime with a home match against Newcastle United.
