Chelsea are expecting striker Diego Costa to return to the club and train as per the terms of his contract, according to reports.

Chelsea have reportedly outlined their expectations of Diego Costa returning to the club and training as per the terms of his contract.

The 28-year-old is not part of Antonio Conte's plans, the striker being informed in the summer that he would have to find a new club.

From Brazil, the striker gave an exclusive interview to the Daily Mail where he threatened to remain there rather than return to London, and then leave on a free transfer.

According to Sky Sports News, however, Chelsea are expecting Costa to return to the club, return to training, get match fit and put himself in contention for selection.

Costa has not been to Chelsea's training ground at Cobham since they won the Premier League title in May, and there have been reports the club have been concerned he has been putting on weight in order to lower their £50m valuation.

The Spain striker, who is believed to have also been fined £300,000 for his actions, has expressed his desire to return to Atletico Madrid, but the Spanish outfit are currently under a transfer embargo.
