Conte: 'Luiz working hard to return'

Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte says that David Luiz is continuing to 'work hard' in an attempt to return to the first-team squad before the end of the season.

Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte has suggested that David Luiz may not make another appearance in the first-team squad before the end of the season.

Earlier in the campaign, Luiz was allegedly left out of Conte's plans due to a disagreement in training but the Brazilian has also been suffering with an ongoing knee problem.

Luiz has not featured since February 5 and while Conte has said that the player continues to 'work hard', participating in a game before the end of the campaign remains uncertain.

At a press conference, the 48-year-old told reporters: "I don't know, I don't know. We'll see. For sure, now, he's having training sessions and is improving a lot.

"He had this problem in his knee. He's working. Working very hard. He's aiming to come back before the final of the season."

Since the start of November, Luiz has made just five outings in all competitions.
