The FA charged Bowyer for comments during and after his side's 2-1 defeat to Swansea.

Charlton boss Lee Bowyer has been charged with two counts of improper conduct following incidents during and after his side's recent home defeat to Swansea, the Football Association has confirmed.

Bowyer, 42, claimed after his side's 2-1 loss that 50/50 refereeing decisions had not gone their way, with two second-half penalty appeals waved away by referee Peter Bankes.

An FA statement read: "Lee Bowyer has been charged with two breaches of FA Rule E3 following the EFL Championship fixture between Charlton Athletic and Swansea City on October 2, 2019.

"It is alleged that the manager's language – both on the field and in the tunnel area at the end of the fixture – amounts to improper conduct and/or questioned the integrity of the match referee. He has until 18:00 on October 9, 2019 to provide a response."

Charlton's defeat to Swansea was their third in the Sky Bet Championship this season and they sit 10th in the table following Saturday's 2-2 draw at Fulham.
