Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic says that playing a league fixture in the US would be beneficial to the Scottish game.

Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic has rallied in support of a proposal for the club to play a Scottish Premiership fixture against Dundee over in the US.

The Australian said that staging a league match in North America would be beneficial for the domestic game.

"It's a good opportunity to expand the game and broadcast Scottish football on a world stage," he told BBC Sport.

"Celtic has a massive fan base and it would be fantastic to give some fans over there the chance to see us play. There would be a bit of travel involved but we have a few international boys that are used to that."

He added: "Growing up in Australia, I knew about the Old Firm and definitely knew about the size of this club, but I guess you could call these plans an innovative way to promote the game a little bit more on the world stage."

Dundee have issued a statement confirming that talks have taken place about the US fixture, but governing bodies FIFA, UEFA and the Scottish Professional Football League are yet to give their blessing to the idea.
