Former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers reportedly emerges as Celtic's number one target as they look to appoint a new manager.

Celtic have reportedly made Brendan Rodgers their number-one target as they search for a successor to the outgoing Ronny Deila.

Earlier this year, Deila announced that he was leaving the Scottish giants after two years in charge and the news resulted in a number of high-profile British managers being linked with a move to Glasgow.

However, according to Sky Sports News, Rodgers has emerged as the primary candidate to take over at the Scottish Premiership champions after speaking with the club's hierarchy.

Rodgers has been out of work since departing Liverpool in October but he has previously said that he is looking to secure a new position in the summer.

It is also claimed that former Cardiff City boss Malky Mackay - who represented Celtic during his playing career - has been interviewed for the role but he is currently behind Rodgers in the pecking order.
