The Bluebirds midfielder was sent off for a second-half challenge on Lucas Moura at Wembley.

Cardiff have appealed against Joe Ralls' red card at Tottenham.

Ralls was sent off by referee Mike Dean for a 58th-minute tackle on Lucas Moura in Saturday's 1-0 Premier League defeat.

Press Association Sport understands an appeal was lodged with the Football Association before the 1pm deadline on Monday.

Cardiff manager Neil Warnock, in his post-match Wembley press conference, branded the decision as "very soft" and accused Spurs striker Harry Kane of "trying to make an issue of it" after squaring up to Ralls.

"You don't go off like that. He (Kane) is doing that to make an issue of it, to get the referee thinking (it was) worse than what it is," Warnock said.

"England player going off like that, dear me. He went straight in and pushed him. Why not give him a red?

"I don't think you should try to get other pros sent off, just because he's had a poor game and Spurs were having a poor game. He shouldn't take it out on us."

Ralls faces the prospect of a three-match ban and will miss games against Fulham, Liverpool and Leicester if the appeal is unsuccessful.

Cardiff are currently bottom of the Premier League with two points from eight games.
