Burnley are reportedly closing in on the £3m signing of Jonathan Walters from Stoke City.

Stoke City forward Jonathan Walters is reportedly closing in on a move to Burnley.

The Clarets were thought to have been initially knocked back by the Potters when they tabled a £1m bid.

However, according to the Daily Mail, an improved offer of £2m rising to £3m in add-ons has been accepted and Walters will undergo a medical within the next 48 hours.

Burnley turned their attention to the Republic of Ireland international after agreeing to sell George Boyd to Sheffield Wednesday.

Walters has been at Stoke for the past seven years following his 2010 move for Ipswich Town, and he has gone on to make more than 200 appearances, scoring 62 goals.
