Result: Borussia Dortmund bounce back by beating Augsburg

Marco Reus stars as Borussia Dortmund survive a late comeback from Augsburg to win 3-2 at the SGL Arena and record their first win of the new Bundesliga season.

Borussia Dortmund responded to their opening-day defeat to Bayer Leverkusen by narrowly beating Augsburg 3-2 at the SGL Arena this evening.

Marco Reus and Sokratis Papastathopoulos scored in the first half before Adrian Ramos opened his account for the club to score what would be a decisive third when Augsburg launched a late comeback.

Raul Bobadilla and Tim Matavz both netted in the final 10 minutes, but the hosts could not prevent Dortmund from picking up their first Bundesliga win of the season.

Reus, who has now fully recovered from the injury that forced him to miss Germany's World Cup success this summer, took just 12 minutes to break the deadlock as he guided home Kevin Grosskreutz's cross.

The highly-rated attacker turned provider only two minutes later to deliver a cross for Sokratis to power home, and the towering Greek defender continued to be a threat from set pieces.

He twice climbed highest from corners, only to misdirect his headers, and when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan found the target, Marvin Hitz was equal to them before the interval.

Augsburg rallied after half time, but Halil Altintop and Markus Feulner could not control their rising shots, and Dortmund regained control as both Aubameyang and Grosskreutz threatened a third.

That third goal did come on 78 minutes when Ramos, who agreed a cross-Bundesliga switch from Hertha Berlin back in April, pounced on a loose ball to score his first goal for Jurgen Klopp's side.

Dortmund's three-goal cushion seemed to prompt complacency and they allowed the hosts a way back into the match when Bobadilla collected Baba Abdul Rahman's pass to strike beyond Roman Weidenfeller on 78 minutes.

Klopp's nerves were tested further when Matavz headed in from Rahman's cross at the beginning of stoppage time, and Weidenfeller was still required to save from Tobias Werner as Dortmund held on.
