Peru booked their place in the semi-finals of the Copa America with a convincing 3-1 win over Bolivia today.

Striker Paolo Guerrero put his side ahead after 20 minutes with a powerful header, before he doubled their lead a few minutes later with a composed finish.

Bolivia chased the game after the break, but Guerrero completed his hat-trick with a neat finish mid-way through the second period before Marcelo Moreno pulled one back for Bolivia from the penalty spot.

12.01amHello, good morning and welcome to Sports Mole's live text commentary of the Copa America quarter-final clash between Bolivia and Peru. The winner will face hosts Chile in the semi-finals, so there is all to play for!

12.03amBoth of these sides are surprise quarter-finalists, and have come through tough groups to get to this stage. Peru will be more comfortable than Bolivia, as they have reached the last eight in seven of the last eight Copa Americas.

12.05amBolivia's recent record in the competition is truly abysmal. They have often been used as the opponent of the host country in the opening game of the tournament, with the expectation of losing heavily and giving the hosts a fast start. That didn't happen this time round, but you would be hard-pushed to find anyone who backed them to get out of their group.

12.07amWe'll have team news for tonight's game imminently...

12.10amTEAM NEWS! Bolivia have rung the changes for tonight, after they rested several of their stars in their last group game against Chile. In comes the likes of Miguel Hurtado, Edward Zenteno and Danny Bejarano. Meanwhile, it's a familiar side for Peru, with Jefferson Farfan in attack.

12.13amBOLIVIA: Quinonez, Hurtado, Raldes, Zenteno, Morales, Smedberg, Bejerano, Chumacero, Coimbra, Pena, Martins.

12.14amPERU: Gallese, Advincula, Zambrano, Ascues, Vargas, Retamoso, Cueva, Yotun, Farfan, Guerrero, Pizarro.

12.16amBolivia reached this stage largely thanks to a 3-2 win over Ecuador, which was their first win in the Copa America since 1997. They also secured a 0-0 draw with Mexico, while they were soundly beaten 5-0 by Chile in their final game. They finished second in the group on four points.

12.18amMeanwhile, Peru opened their account with a narrow 2-1 loss to Brazil, who didn't find the winner until added time. They backed that up with a 1-0 win over Venezuela, before a solid 0-0 draw with Colombia saw them finish second.

12.21amThis is the second of the quarter-finals, and if it's anything like the first then we're in for an eventful night. Hosts Chile beat Uruguay 1-0 yesterday thanks to a Maurcio Isla strike, but that doesn't tell half of the tale. In a bad-tempered affair, Edinson Cavani was sent off for Uruguay after he reacted angrily to a Chile player. Footage later showed that the player appeared to push his finger at Cavani's backside. That wasn't the end of the drama, as Jorge Fucile was also shown a red card for Uruguay, prompting a mass brawl at the end of the match!

12.23amHopefully, this one will be played in better spirit! Both teams are now on the pitch and preparing for the national anthems.

12.26amThat's that completed, and we're minutes from kickoff.

0 minKICKOFF! Peru get us underway!

1 minBrilliant start from Peru, who win a corner inside the first 30 seconds. Jefferson Farfan beats two players down the right, and his cross is touched behind by a defender.

3 minFarfan gets the ball again down the right and immediately swings the ball into the box. The keeper claims it, but he looks a handful already.

6 minPeru have started well on top here, and earn a free kick for a sliding foul by Cristhian Coimbra. The cross is over-hit again though, and Romel Quinonez claims it easily.

8 minBolivia now show Peru how dangerous they can be as they keep possession for a prolonged spell. Alcides Pena makes a clever run in behind, but the pass arrives slightly too late and he's caught offside. Peru are holding a high line, and if the pass was played earlier, he would have been in on goal.

9 minSHOT! We have our first shot on goal, but its a pretty horrendous one. Paolo Guerrero of Peru lines one up from distance, but he fires it way, way wide.

11 minBolivia earn their first corner and commit several men forward...it comes to nothing though as Peru clear it, and they start to counter-attack with the rapid Farfan. He runs out of room down the left, but Peru will know that was a chance.

14 minSo it's been a scrappy opening, but Peru have been the team more comfortable going forward. Bolivia are known for a strong defence, and look like they intend to play to that strength tonight.

15 minSHOT! More dangerous counter-attacking from Peru, who sweep from one end of the pitch to the other in no time. A cross from Yotun finds Guerrero in the box, but his shot is closed down and blocked for a corner.

16 minOFF THE LINE! Bolivia fail to deal with the corner, as the keeper comes for it and misses it. Fortunately for him, it hits the legs of a defender and dribbles towards goal, where a teammate hacks it off the line!

18 minBolivia are hanging on here slightly, as Peru are camped in their half and causing problems down the flank. A fast one-two between Pizarro and Farfan almost sees the latter free in the box, but it's just about cleared. These are dangerous times for the men in white.

20 minGOAL! BOLIVIA 0-1 PERU (GUERRERO)

21 minGOAL: They've been knocking firmly on the door, and finally they've broken through! A superb cross from Juan Vargas down the left picks out the tall figure of Guerrero in the box, and he leaps high and powers a header into the back of the net. That's his first international goal since November.

23 minGOAL! BOLIVIA 0-2 PERU (GUERRERO)

24 minGOAL: What's that saying? You wait ages for one and then two come along at once? It may be in reference to London buses, but I'm sure Paolo Guerrero knows exactly what it feels like! A fast counter-attack sees Christian Cueva play the striker in on goal, and he calmly slots the ball into the bottom corner from 10 yards.

26 minSAVE! Bolivia look shell-shocked, and Guerreo almost has a hat-trick! A whipped corner from the right is headed hard and low by the striker, but Quinonez dives to keep it out!

27 minCLOSE! How close is this!! Alejandro Morales carries the ball forward for Bolivia and unleashes a snarling, dipping effort which clears the bar by millimetres. Tremendous effort.

28 minWow, this game has really sparked into life. Peru have that two-goal cushion, but Bolivia have showed that they're not giving up just yet.

30 minSAVE! WHAT A SAVE!! This is David Seaman-esque from Gallese, who claws Morales's header off the line with incredible reflexes! A whipped free-kick was flicked towards goal from the Bolivian defender, who was certain it was heading in.

32 minCHANCE! Peru haven't learnt, as a free kick in an almost identical position is again fired in at the near post. Morales gets their again, but this time he gets too much on it and he flies over the top.

35 minYELLOW CARD! We have our second booking of the game as Bolivia's Danny Bejarano goes into the book for a late tackle, following Peru's Luis Advuncula, who was shown a yellow four minutes before.

37 minOFF THE POST! Bolivia almost gift Peru a third, as Hurtado inexcusably gives the ball away at the back, prompting a Peru attack. Guerrero eventually plays the ball into Farfan, who beats the keeper with a low drive and hits the outside of the post.

39 minCLOSE! Bolivia really are dangerous from set-pieces, and Peru are struggling to deal with the man who runs to the near post. This time Morales comes within inches of flicking it in, while it hits Peru defender Raldes in the six-yard box and flies to safety.

42 minSHOT! Smedberg whips in yet another free kick for Bolivia and, although it's half-cleared, it falls to Bejaran on the edge of the box. His first-time volley is charged down, but it had Gallese scrambling.

44 minSHOT! Guerrero looks full of confidence after his two earlier goals, and he forces a corner with another effort shortly before the break. Vargas finds him with a low pass into the box, but his first-time shot is deflected wide.

45+1 minOFF THE BAR! Farfan hits the woodwork for the second time tonight, with a beautifully curled free-kick from 25-yards which clatters into the bar. He's been outstanding so far.

45+2 minHALF-TIME: BOLIVIA 0-2 PERU

1.19amReferee Wilmar Roldan brings an end to an enthralling first half! Peru have been excellent so far: Inventive, full of pace, played at a high tempo and ruthless in front of goal. It's hard to see a way back for Bolivia.

1.22amThe men in white have had their chances, but Peru have been superior in all departments. Paolo Guerrero has been the star of the show, with two very-well taken goals within the space of three minutes, while he went close to a hat-trick shortly after.

1.25amJefferson Farfan has also been outstanding for Peru, and is very unlucky not be on the scoresheet. He should have buried his first major chance with a low strike across goal, but his free-kick was outstanding and deserved more than the crossbar.

1.28amSo, Chile are already through to the last four and Bolivia look set to join them, but who else will progress? Tomorrow, Argentina meet Colombia in a real clash of the giants, before Brazil meet an in-form Paraguay in two days time. You can follow both games with us!

1.31amThe players are starting to emerge for the second half, and we'll be back underway shortly!

46 minKICKOFF! Bolivia kickoff the second half.

47 minSUBSTITUTE! Bolivia made two changes at the break, as Damian Lizio replaces Alejandro Morales and Pablo Escobar comes on for Miguel Hurtado.

48 minIt's been a gentle start to the half as both teams get a feel for the ball.

49 minSAVE! Big chance for Bolivia from a set-piece yet again as a floated free kick is headed firmly on goal by Lizio. The keeper saves it, but the linesman raises his flag for offside anyway.

51 minCHANCE! Bolivia have a great chance to play Peru at their own game, as they counter-attack with pace down the left. Lizio is on the ball, but instead of finding his teammate he weakly falls over a tackle and demands a foul. The referee isn't interested and waves play on.

53 minSAVE! This time it's Peru who get a shot on goal, through the anonymous Claudio Pizarro. The veteran is found in space on the edge of the box, but his well-struck effort is comfortably caught by Quinonez.

55 minSHOT! Peru have wrestled back the initiative in this game, and Cueva threatens to finish Bolivia off. He side-steps a couple of loose tackles in the box before his low effort blocked.

57 minPeru have had 15 shots so far tonight...Bolivia have had four.

60 minCHANCE! Some patient passing from Peru finally creates a gap, as Yotun fires a fine pass into the feet of Farfan. The attacker lines one up from 20 yards, and sends it wildly over the bar.

61 minCLOSE! The big difference in this game has been ruthlessness in front of goal, as Bolivia waste another fine chance. Smedberg's corner is met by Pena, but he glances it over the near post.

62 minYELLOW CARD! Peru keeper Pedro Gallese goes into the book for arguing with the officials. I've no idea what about. His side are 2-0 for heaven's sake!

64 minCLOSE! It really isn't Farfan's night in front of goal. A wonderful reverse pas from Vargs opens up the right-hand side for Peru, and the ball is played to Farfan on the wing. However, with just the keeper to beat he drags it slightly wide of the far post. Big chance.

66 minSUBSTITUTE! Captain Claudio Pizarro makes way, probably in order to rest ahead of the semi-finals, and he's replaced by Andre Carrillo.

68 minSUBSTITUTE! Bolivia roll the dice for the final time as Alcides Pena comes off for Ricardo Pedriel.

69 minBolivia's players are livid with the referee for not awarding a penalty! Pedriel goes down in the box under a challenge from the keeper but the referee waves away his claims. Virtually, the whole team race up the pitch to confront the ref but its no good as he dismisses them.

70 minYELLOW CARD! Pablo Escobar's persistent complaining earns him a yellow. He looks very frustrated!

73 minTime is really starting to run out for Bolivia now. If they create any more chances, they can't afford to waste them.

74 minYELLOW CARD! Pedriel, who has ony been on the pitch for a matter of minutes, joins a number of his teammates in the book.

74 minGOAL! BOLIVIA 0-3 PERU (GUERRERO)

75 minGOAL: Just seconds after missing the target with a header, Guerrero completes his hat-trick! A terrible mistake at the back allows Guerrero to surge through on goal, open up his body and guide the ball into the corner with his right foot. A superb finish to round off a superb performance.

76 minCLOSE! And he's not done yet! A right-wing cross is slightly behind Guerrero, but he flicks it with his right foot marginally over the top.

77 minSUBSTITUTE! Farfan won't get his goal then. The winger comes off to be replaced by Paolo Hurtado.

79 minSurely that is game over now. Peru have been excellent and look set to progress to their second straight Copa America semi-final.

81 minPeru are looking to round this out in style. They're committing men forward and shooting at an early opportunity.

82 minSUBSTITUTE! Peru's final change sees Chrstian Cueva head off to be replaced by Jose Yordy Reyna Serna.

83 minPENALTY BOLIVIA!

84 minGOAL! BOLIVIA 1-3 PERU (MORENO)

85 minGOAL: Bolivia are given the chance to pull one back, as Luis Advincula brings down Pedriel in the box. Marcelo Moreno confidently strokes it down the middle, and they rush back to get the game going. They can't, can they?

86 minYELLOW CARD! Just minutes after his goal, Moreno is booked for blocking off an opponent.

88 minPeru have done a good job of slowing the game down. They've kept hold of the ball, and keep breaking the game up with free kicks and time wasting.

90 minPeru earn a corner...but they take it short and consume more time.

90+1 minWe have three added minutes tonight.

90+3 minCLOSE! Peru come close of killing the game off as Guerrero's low shot forces Quinonez into a save. The rebound misses Vargas's boot by inches, much to his despair.

90+5 minFULL-TIME BOLIVIA 1-3 PERU

2.23amThe referee blows for full-time and it's Peru who are victorious and progress to a second successive Copa America semi-final! They fully deserved it for their outstanding display, and can look forward to playing Chile next!

2.25amThe day belongs to Paolo Guerrero, who scored a fine hat-trick to see his side over the line. Reports suggested that he might be dropped for his poor form ahead of tonight's game, but I bet Peru's fans are glad that he wasn't now!

2.26amI'm afraid that is all from me tonight. Thank you for joining Sports Mole for this game, and remember that you can follow Argentina vs. Colombia at the same time tomorrow. Until then, good night.
