France forward Andre-Pierre Gignac backs international teammate Samuel Umtiti to impress at Barcelona next season.

Samuel Umtiti is "ready" to make the move to Barcelona, according to his France teammate Andre-Pierre Gignac.

The central defender is widely expected to join the Spanish champions from Lyon once Euro 2016 has concluded, and Gignac has backed the 22-year-old to make an impression at Camp Nou.

"He's a young man who has a lot of quality and I think he's ready to play for any team. He has the potential to be a starter at Barca. I'm very happy for him, he's a really great guy. His defensive game is incredible," Gignac told reporters.

Umtiti and Gignac were both part of the France team that beat Germany 2-0 in the semi-finals of Euro 2016 on Thursday night.
