The Argentine international is currently on his worst run of scoring form for the Catalan giants for five years, having not found the back of the net in any competition since March 16.
Messi drew another blank against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday as Barcelona exited the Champions League at the quarter-final stage, and according to Cadena Cope, the attacker is currently struggling with a muscular injury.
The same report also claims that Barcelona are refusing to admit to the problem at such a key stage of the season.
Barcelona will look to bounce back from consecutive league defeats when they welcome Valencia to Camp Nou on Sunday night.
