Brazil captain Neymar is cleared of any muscular damage after pulling up during a training session on Wednesday and will be fit to face Uruguay this weekend.

Brazil captain Neymar has been given the all-clear to face Uruguay on Saturday after escaping a muscular injury during a training session on Wednesday.

It is understood that the Barcelona forward pulled up during a training session with his country, which placed his involvement in Saturday's 2018 World Cup qualifier in doubt.

However, according to a statement from the Brazilian Football Confederation, the 24-year-old "can continue training" after tests revealed no serious damage.

"Neymar felt muscular pain and spoke to team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar. He accompanied Neymar for tests. Neymar underwent an examination that revealed no injury. The forward can continue training and will be ready for the game against Uruguay," read the statement.

Neymar has scored 46 goals in 69 appearances for his country - only Zico, Romario, Ronaldo and Pele have more for the South American nation.
