Barcelona left-back Jordi Alba is ruled out for 10 days after suffering a thigh injury while on international duty with Spain.

Barcelona left-back Jordi Alba has been ruled out of action for the next 10 days after suffering a thigh injury.

The 27-year-old picked up the problem during Spain's World Cup qualifier against Italy, which ended in a 1-1 draw in Turin on Thursday night.

As a result, Alba withdrew from the national squad to return to Barcelona, where it was announced via the club's official website that he will be sidelined for under two weeks.

The defender, who has made eight appearances for the Spanish giants so far this season, is likely to miss the La Liga match against Deportivo La Coruna on October 15.
