Striker Fernando Torres reportedly agrees to extend his stay at Atletico Madrid by a further 12 months.

Atletico Madrid have reportedly agreed a deal with Fernando Torres for the striker to remain at Vicente Calderon for another 12 months.

Torres has spent the last 18 months on loan from AC Milan but there has always been a willingness for the striker to remain at the club where he started his career.

After a strong end to the last campaign, there was a suggestion that Torres would receive a longer deal, but according to Spanish outlet AS, the 32-year-old has had to be content with a one-year contract.

Official confirmation is yet to come from the Champions League runners-up but it appears that Torres will spend his 10th season in the capital after scoring 12 times in 44 appearances in all competitions last season.

Atletico Madrid's Argentinian forward Luciano Vietto (R) vies with Espanyol's Senegalese midfielder Pape Diop during the Spanish league football match Club Atletico de Madrid vs RCD Espanyol at the Vicente Calderon stadium in Madrid on November 28, 2015.
