The 33-year-old, who rejoined Atletico in 2011 following a four-year spell at Real Zaragoza, is due to come to the end of his current contract next summer.

Cerezo told Cadena Ser: "We have reached an agreement with Gabi to continue at Atletico Madrid."

Gabi added: "We already had an agreement and it has always been easy when we talked. While I can perform at the level required by Atletico, I'll be here."

The midfielder has played in six of Atletico's La Liga matches this season.
