Atletico Madrid are determined to beat a number of clubs to the signing of Benfica teenager Joao Felix, according to a report.

Atletico Madrid are reportedly desperate to sign Benfica teenager Joao Felix as a replacement for Antoine Griezmann, who has revealed that he wants to leave the Wanda Metropolitano this summer.

Felix is widely regarded as one of the best young talents in European football, scoring 19 times and contributing 11 assists in 42 appearances for Benfica this season.

Manchester City, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus are amongst the clubs to be linked with the Portugal Under-21 international, but Benfica are said to be preparing a huge contract in a bid to keep the 19-year-old for at least another 12 months.

According to Marca, though, the Portuguese giants will also have to fend off Atletico, who 'are dreaming' of signing the teenager as a replacement for the outgoing Griezmann.

However, the same report claims that the Madrid giants are only prepared to pay £84m to sign Felix in this summer's transfer window, which is short of his £105m valuation.

The attacker only signed a new contract with Benfica in the latter stages of 2018, having been promoted to the first team at the start of the 2018-19 campaign.
