Jack Grealish has played down a confrontation between teammates Tyrone Mings and Anwar El Ghazi during Aston Villa's 0-0 draw with West Ham United on Monday night.

The two players engaged in a heated exchange at a corner in the first-half amid a dispute over tracking back, with El Ghazi clearly pushing his head into Mings.

Referee Mike Dean even took the incident to VAR, but determined that the coming together did not merit a red card.

Reflecting on the incident after the game, Grealish told the Evening Standard: "It's all handbags. When you're out there, heat of the moment.

"As soon as we got into half-time, it was all put to bed. Shake hands. We all said that can't be happening out on the pitch."

Villa endured a frustrating evening against Manuel Pellegrini's side as the home side failed to take advantage of a red card for Arthur Masuaku after 70 minutes.

The Clarets, who have won just once this season, nonetheless managed to climb out of the relegation zone with the point gained against West Ham.
