Bernardo Silva: 'AS Monaco can't win Ligue 1'

Bernardo Silva says that it is 'almost impossible' for AS Monaco to win Ligue 1 this season.

Midfielder Bernardo Silva has admitted that AS Monaco are not aiming to win the Ligue 1 title this season.

The side challenged for the league crown during the last campaign, but have won just three out of 10 matches so far this season.

"It's true that in this beginning of the season it was not easy for us, also last year we did not start well, we tried every day to get better," Silva told the Ligue 1 website.

"We bought a lot of new players, especially young players, and it's not easy to put them all together or to get them to play from the beginning.

"Of course here in the league we know it's almost, not impossible, but very difficult to try to win the league here but we have the cups, we can make good things here, we can try to win the Coupe de la Ligue or the Coupe de France and we'll try to get to the second, third or fourth place."

Silva signed for Monaco from Benfica in 2014 on loan, before going on to complete a permanent deal.
