Arsenal defender Calum Chambers is reportedly wanted on loan by former club Southampton, but Everton and Newcastle United are also in the running.

Southampton are reportedly interested in bringing defender Calum Chambers back to the club on loan from Arsenal, but face strong competition from elsewhere.

The England Under-21s international came through the Saints' academy ranks and spent a couple of seasons in the first-team setup before being signed by Arsenal for £16m in 2014.

Chambers is likely to struggle to break into the Gunners' starting lineup next season and, having spent time on loan at relegated Middlesbrough last term, could be farmed out once again in 2017-18.

Sky Sports News claims that Southampton have joined Newcastle United and Everton in showing an interest, as they are desperate to strengthen their defensive line ahead of the new season.

The south coast club, currently without a manager following Claude Puel's recent sacking, are also said to be in the running to sign Jan Bednarek from Lech Poznan.
