Chelsea will reportedly open discussions with Arsenal over a deal for unsettled Gunners midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain next week.

Chelsea will reportedly open discussions with Arsenal over a deal for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain next week.

Last month, it was claimed that Oxlade-Chamberlain was 'deeply frustrated' with Arsenal over their lack of movement when it came to offering the midfielder a new contract, with his current deal expiring at the end of next season.

The 23-year-old scored twice and registered seven assists in 29 Premier League appearances during the 2016-17 campaign, but he struggled to hold down a regular position in the team.

It is understood that the England international is refusing to sign a new deal at the Emirates Stadium, and according to Sky Sports News, Chelsea will begin negotiations with the Gunners next week over a deal for the versatile midfielder.

Both Premier League clubs are currently in Beijing preparing for their pre-season clash on Saturday afternoon, but will meet to discuss Oxlade-Chamberlain upon their return to the UK next week.

Liverpool and Manchester City are also said to be interested in a player that has scored 20 times in 194 appearances for Arsenal following a 2011 move from Southampton.
