Arsenal reportedly receive a boost in the race to sign Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri after Roma allegedly withdraw their interest.

Arsenal have reportedly been given a boost in their attempts to sign Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri.

After his seven goals and nine assists helped Nice to third place in Ligue 1 last season, Seri has been attracting interest from European football's major leagues.

Barcelona have previously been linked with the 25-year-old Ivorian but it appears that one of the other frontrunners have pulled out of the race.

According to The Guardian, Roma have been put off by Seri's £35m release clause, which Nice insist will have to be met if they are to part ways with one of their key players.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is currently considering his options in the transfer market, while also waiting for developments in contract negotiations with Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.

The Gunners manager is thought to be focused on attacking signings, with Kylian Mbappe, Alexandre Lacazette, Thomas Lemar and Riyad Mahrez all being linked with a switch to the Emirates Stadium.
