Arsenal are reportedly considering a £40m summer swoop for Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha as they aim to increase their number of homegrown players.

Arsenal have reportedly joined their North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace this summer.

Zaha last month fuelled speculation that he will leave the Eagles at the end of the season by claiming that he is "too ambitious" to stay at the club and wants to play at the highest level.

Arsenal are currently battling on two fronts to ensure that they will be in the Champions League next season, and the Daily Mail reports that the Gunners are considering a £40m move for Zaha should they either finish in the top four or win the Europa League.

Unai Emery is understood to be eager to increase the number of homegrown players in his squad, particularly with Aaron Ramsey leaving for Juventus this summer.

Zaha still counts as a homegrown player despite declaring for Ivory Coast at international level, and the Palace winger has reportedly now been made Arsenal's number one target ahead of Ryan Fraser.

However, the Gunners could face competition for his signature with Paris Saint-Germain also thought to be interested along with a host of Premier League rivals, all of whom are unwilling to meet Palace's £75m asking price.
