Arsene Wenger is optimistic that Arsenal will land top attacking target Thomas Lemar before the transfer window closes, according to a report.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is reportedly feeling increasingly confident of sealing a move for AS Monaco winger Thomas Lemar in the remaining weeks of the transfer window.

The Gunners have turned their attention to signing the France international after pulling out of the race for Leicester City's Riyad Mahrez, who they felt was overvalued at the £50m mark.

Monaco are themselves holding out for a high offer from Arsenal, however, having already supposedly knocked back bids of £30m and £40m in the past fortnight.

It was recently claimed that Wenger had made a third approach, which The Mirror reports is worth £45m up front, and they are optimistic of striking a deal.

Lemar is said to favour a move to the Emirates Stadium, where he would join compatriot Alexandre Lacazette following the striker's club-record switch from Lyon.
