Tony Adams suggests that Arsenal should sell right-backs Hector Bellerin and Cedric Soares this summer and bring in better alternatives if they want to progress.

Tony Adams has suggested that Arsenal should look to sell right-backs Hector Bellerin and Cedric Soares in the summer transfer window.

Bellerin has previously been linked with a move away from the Gunners, with Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus the leading candidates to land his signature, while Cedric only signed a four-year contract at the Emirates last summer, following his arrival from Southampton.

However, Adams believes that his former club need to bring in better alternatives to fill the position long-term if they want to progress and win silverware.

"If you're bringing players in who are a lesser standard, you don't get someone that's less than what you've got," the 54-year-old told Stadium Astro.

"Cedric, is he better than Bellerin? Have you made an improvement there? Take it or leave it.

"Or are you telling me we need two? Get rid of two and get a good one! That would be the opinion that I would have. You always bring in players better than the ones you have got or don't bring them to the club."

Both right-backs have featured regularly under Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta this season, with Bellerin – the club's vice-captain – making 28 appearances in all competitions, while Cedric has featured 20 times so far this campaign.
