Former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman is wary of the difficulties new boss Unai Emery may face as Arsene Wenger's successor during his first season at the club.

Former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman has warned that it will take time for new manager Unai Emery to make his mark at the club.

Emery replaced Arsene Wenger in the Gunners dugout this summer, with Wenger stepping down from his role of 22 years following a sixth-place finish in the Premier League.

The Spaniard has been busy in the transfer market so far, but Seaman is wary of the difficulties Emery could face as Wenger's successor and believes that a return to the top four would make for a "great season".

"If I am honest I don't think it will click straight away because it is a new manager," Seaman is quoted as saying by The Mirror.

"It is a whole new different way of Arsenal. I am back here [at the Emirates Stadium] and I am still seeing Arsene's face everywhere. I see him in the dugout – moaning and groaning, and throwing water bottles, and struggling with his zip, stuff like that.

"So it is going to be really hard to get used to somebody else in that seat. It will take time, but I think realistically top four would be a great season for us."

Arsenal's first match of the new Premier League season comes against defending champions Manchester City on August 12.
