Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil is excited by the prospect of assisting Alexandre Lacazette next season, describing the new arrival as "ice-cold" in front of goal.

Mesut Ozil has appeared to confirm that he will remain at Arsenal next season by admitting that he is "really looking forward" to linking up with new signing Alexandre Lacazette.

The Germany international's future in North London has been up in the air for the past few months due to his reluctance to sign a new contract, leaving him open to depart as a free agent next summer.

Ozil is happy with the Gunners' transfer business to date, though, having brought in Lacazette from Lyon for a club-record fee of £52m this week, and he is relishing the prospect of assisting the "ice-cold" Frenchman this coming season.

"I'm really looking forward to it," he told Arsenal's official website. "He's a very good striker who has scored many goals in Ligue 1, not just this season but in previous seasons too. We're really happy to have such a class striker here with us.

"From what I've heard, he's meant to be very good, always hungry for goals and ice-cold when he gets into a scoring position. My friends who follow the French league know him well and have told me that I'll definitely have fun with him on the pitch.

"I hope that he'll be able to take us further with his goals. I'm sure he's happy to be here and to be able to play with us, and we're pleased to be able to assist him and help him to score as many goals as possible."

Lacazette found the back of the net 129 times in 275 appearances for Lyon, including 28 goals in Ligue 1 last season.
