Thierry Henry admits that he wanted Liverpool to match Arsenal's Invincibles record, claiming that it "would have been good for the game".

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has admitted that he would have liked to see Liverpool complete the Premier League campaign without losing a game.

Henry and Arsenal made history in the 2003-04 season by going an entire league campaign unbeaten on their way to the title, leading to the side being dubbed the "Invincibles".

Liverpool looked to be on course to match the Gunners' remarkable achievement this season, but their dreams of an invincible campaign were dashed following a 3-0 defeat to Watford in February.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Henry said: "All I want to say, is Liverpool... wow. They lost at Watford, I thought they were going to go all the way, unbeaten, I think it would have been good for the game.

"Why I think is because they way they would have done it, the way they are playing. They're playing football the right way, passion, commitment, organisation, desire, working hard.

"Their football is contagious so I think when you are like that, you want them to be successful. I'm not having a go at people who think about defending first, but my view of the game is exactly how Liverpool plays or Barcelona plays.

"A different way but going forward, in your face, being great, taking the ball, going forward but putting pressure and that's why I wanted them to do it because it would have been good for the game."

Jurgen Klopp's side remain 25 points clear at the top of the Premier League table amid the coronavirus suspension.
