Unai Emery website 'confirms Arsenal appointment'

The official website of Unai Emery appears to prematurely confirm his appointment as Arsene Wenger's successor at Arsenal.

Unai Emery's official website has seemingly prematurely confirmed his appointment as Arsenal manager.

Emery is expected to be officially named as Arsene Wenger's successor later this week after emerging as a late favourite to land the job ahead of Manchester City assistant Mikel Arteta.

The 46-year-old's website now appears to have confirmed the news before the club, with a graphic reading "Proud to be part of the Arsenal family" appearing, only to be deleted later on Tuesday night.

Emery spent the 2017-18 season in charge of Paris Saint-Germain, leading the free-spending French outfit to a domestic treble before being sacked for his lack of progress in the Champions League.

The Spaniard - who will become Arsenal's first new manager since 1996 - also had a successful spell in charge of Sevilla, leading the club to three successive Europa League crowns.
