How Arsenal could line up against Manchester City

Ahead of Sunday's Premier League meeting between Manchester City and Arsenal, Sports Mole looks at how the Gunners could line up.

Arsenal are going in search of a third successive Premier League win when they take on Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium this weekend.

The Gunners have won back-to-back top-flight matches, against Chelsea and Cardiff City, to move into the top four on goal difference.

This is a fixture that Arsenal tend to struggle in, however, losing each of their last four meetings against City by at least two goals.

Ahead of this latest tussle, Sports Mole looks at how Unai Emery could set out his side on Sunday.

Possible ARS XI vs. MCI

Out: Sokratis Papastathopoulos (knee), Hector Bellerin (knee), Rob Holding (knee), Danny Welbeck (ankle)
Doubtful: Laurent Koscielny (facial), Ainsley Maitland-Niles (knee), Henrikh Mkhitaryan (metatarsal)

Koscielny is expected to return to Arsenal's starting lineup after missing the 2-1 win against Cardiff with a facial injury, which could see Emery revert to a three-man backline.

That may depend on the fitness of Maitland-Niles, however, as the versatile wideman is carrying a minor knee injury.

Mkhitaryan is unlikely to return for this trip to the Etihad Stadium, while Bellerin, Holding and Welbeck are all long-term absentees and Sokratis is also on the sidelines.

Emery's squad was bolstered by the addition of Denis Suarez on deadline day and the Barcelona loanee is in line for a debut against his former club, though a spot on the substitutes' bench is more likely here.

The continued experiment of using Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette together for the wins over Chelsea and Cardiff paid off, meanwhile, with the pair combining for seven goals in the top flight since the former made his debut 12 months ago, so Emery may be tempted to stick with the goalscoring duo up top.
