Jack Wilshere has urged his Arsenal teammates to head into the second leg of their Europa League semi-final against Atletico Madrid with a positive mindset.
The Gunners know that they have to net in next week's return match at the Wanda Metropolitano after playing out a 1-1 draw on home soil in Thursday night's first leg.
Atleti have a formidable record when it comes to keeping out opponents in the Spanish capital, boasting 11 successive clean sheets in all competitions, but Wilshere is not giving up hope of snatching a goal and progressing through.
"They are a team that want to sit in there, we are a team that want to attack and open teams up," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. "We knew it was going to be difficult.
"The good thing is, it is clear what we have to do. We know in our minds we have to go there and score. We have to be confident we can do that and take the game to them when we are there."
On the atmosphere at the Emirates Stadium, Wilshere added: "The fans were fantastic. I think they really feel how we feel with the boss - we want to give him the send-off he deserves - and I think that really helped us, especially in the first half.
"When you walked out at the start of the game you could really feel the energy and the love from the fans and it pushed us on."
The last team to score against Atletico at the Wanda Metropolitano were Girona on January 20, winning 10 in a row since then prior to last weekend's stalemate with Real Betis.
