Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere admits that his side will need to improve from their draw with Red Star Belgrade when they take on Premier League leaders Manchester City.

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has admitted that his side must perform a lot better than they did during their Europa League draw with Red Star Belgrade when they take on Premier League leaders Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

The Gunners were held to a drab goalless draw by their Serbian visitors at the Emirates this evening, and could have even lost the game with Red Star hitting the crossbar and missing two clear chances.

The point was still enough to seal Arsenal's place in the last 32 of the competition but Wilshere, who came closest to scoring for his side with an effort that was cleared off the line, admitted that they were not entirely pleased with the result.

"At the start of the tournament, we knew we had the quality to get out of the group. If you can't win the game, don't lose it. We're not delighted with a point but we'll take it," he told BT Sport.

"In the first half they were the better team. In the second half we were better. We'll learn from this. We want to win the group.

"I feel good. I'm trying to get in the team but there are good players here. I'm happy with where I am. I'm enjoying my football and being back in an Arsenal shirt. We'll have to be better when we go to Manchester City. We'll go there full of confidence."

Tonight's match was just the second time in Arsenal's last 27 European matches that they have failed to score.
