Veteran newsreader Moira Stuart reportedly collapses at Angela Rippon's birthday party in what is described as "a funny turn".

Broadcasting legend Moira Stuart reportedly sparked concern when she suddenly collapsed at good friend Angela Rippon's birthday party on Monday night.

The 74-year-old veteran newsreader was attending the bash - also held to celebrate the end of the Strictly Come Dancing Tour - at London's Hilton Park Lane when she fell to the floor, prompting Louise Minchin and Michael Buerk to rush to her aid.

A source explained to The Sun: "Moira took a funny turn when Angela's party was in full swing.

"She had been in great spirits on the night and spent time with Angela and Lulu, who was also a guest, at the Hilton.

"It all happened very quickly and out of nowhere, Moira, who was standing at the bar, had fallen to the floor.

"She was looked after by Louise and Michael and an ambulance was called just in case.

"The room was cleared to give everyone some space but after a while Moira said she was fine and that it was just a funny turn.

"Everyone was just pleased she was alright but it was scary at the time. Luckily the staff at the Hilton were really quick to act and get an ambulance out."

Stuart was subsequently pictured with Rippon leaving the party, which was also attended by the likes of Stanley Johnson and her Strictly co-stars Carlos Gu, Kai Widdrington and Bobby Brazier.
