A "top male soap star" has allegedly been arrested on suspicion of raping a woman in London the day before New Year's Eve.
According to a report in The Sun, the unnamed actor has been released on bail pending further investigations which could lead to a referral to the Crown Prosecution Service.
The newspaper has not named the soap which the actor appears in, nor confirmed whether he has been suspended from work, although he is described as being aged in his 20s.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "Police are investigating after a woman reported she was raped while at a residential address in the Southwark area on December 30.
"Specially trained officers continue to offer support to the victim.
"A man was arrested on suspicion of rape and has been bailed until a date in April."
