Jeff Probst says that he has no intention of stepping down as Survivor host any time soon.

Survivor host Jeff Probst has indicated that he has no intention of leaving the show any time soon.

The 61-year-old has been at the helm of the CBS competition series since its inception in 2000 and has gone on to present an incredible 43 seasons, with the 44th already filmed and the next two planned for early 2023.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Probst - also executive producer - described a symbiotic relationship between himself and the show, saying that he still 'needs' Survivor.

"It's impossible to describe what Survivor represents to me. Impossible," he told the magazine.

"It goes beyond creative expression or professional recognition. It's much deeper.

"It's right in line with the ideas I try to impress on our players. It's about pushing myself further than I think I can go, about trying to stay in the moment and adapt to my surroundings, about being a good 'tribe member,' about being open to new ideas and new people.

"The same opportunities Survivor offers the players, it offers me. I love Survivor and I still need Survivor."

The 44th season of Survivor is due to premiere on March 1.
