The celebrity version of The Circle is reportedly in jeopardy due to a lack of backup contestants.

Channel 4 has already pre-recorded the third series of the innovative reality show and is following that up with a celebrity edition in aid of Stand Up To Cancer.

According to The Sun, ahead of filming beginning this Sunday, the contestants have been given coronavirus tests and are now awaiting the results - but if anyone is forced to drop out, there are said to be no replacements on standby.

"They've made a boo-boo - they're testing people for COVID on the 3rd and the 5th of September," a source told the newspaper.

"They were in a mad panic in recent days that they haven't got any backups. So if anyone has got coronavirus, they're in trouble.

"It's hard to get famous people last-minute, so it's unsure what plan B will end being."

Both the celebrity and regular versions will air on Channel 4 in early 2021.
