Love Island producers reportedly settle on Jersey as an alternative location for this summer's series.

Jersey has been mooted as the latest potential destination for the new series of Love Island.

The show is expected to return to ITV2 this summer, having been axed in 2020 due to coronavirus, with producers hopeful of being able to use their usual villa in Mallorca.

With uncertainty over travel to Spain still remaining, however, a number of alternative locations have been explored, with the likes of Crete, Barry Island and the Isle of Wight all mentioned.

According to The Mirror, producers have now settled on Jersey as their back-up option should Mallorca be ruled out.

"The Channel Islands get plenty of sunshine so it makes sense to hold Love Island there if we can't get back to Spain," a source told the newspaper.

"Either way we're going to put out a belting series. Viewers have missed Love Island for the whole of 2020 and they're desperate to have it back. They're going to love what we do, wherever we do it."

More than 100,000 people are said to have applied to be on the new series, which is due to get underway in June or July.
